All reassessment work must be submitted by 4pm on 10th August

This document contains three pages

The module descriptor available on the module Moodle site specifies that students failing
the module must submit two essays and an artefact as previously described as assessment
task four during the module.

Reassessment Essay 1 (word limit 1,500 words)
Please write an essay about your experience of learning sets in BML115 in 2014/15. You are
encouraged to re-read the guidance on learning sets on pp8-11 in the module handbook.
Your aim should be to write reflectively about your experience. Your essay should go
beyond simply reporting what happened or what you did. You are advised to consult
chapter 8 of Cottrell (2010) to help you. You may also find the questions on page 33 of the
module handbook useful, and perhaps Pedler (2008). We want to read about your views,
your interpretations, and your judgements about your experience, and we want to read
about the personal learning points you think will be of value to you in the future and how
you might build on these. Since you are writing about your own experience it would be
appropriate to write in the first person. If you use any books, websites or other sources to
help you then you should provide appropriate references (see pp18-20 in the handbook).
Please do not name other students in your essays. If you want to write about other
students, and this is quite likely, then you should simply refer to ‘another student’ or
‘student A’ and ‘student B’, and so on.

Reassessment Essay 2 (word limit 1,500 words)

peers in BML115. You may have been involved in other peer assessment activity on other
modules during the academic year too.
Your aim should be to write reflectively about your experience. Your essay should go

Assessment criteria for essays
Your essays will be assessed against the following criteria.
1. Quality of presentation (including accuracy and clarity of English).
2. Quality of reflection (including: use of evidence; detail of explanation; evidence of
critical thinking; clarity and value of conclusions; clarity and value of personal
learning points identified for the future).
The second criterion will be given twice the weight of the first in marking your work.

Artefact
Please produce an artefact that communicates your reflections on key aspects of your own
personal development during the academic year. You have a choice as to the form of the
artefact produced; it could be a poster, Powerpoint slide show1

, webpage, mind map, essay,
podcast, portfolio, blog; but it cannot be an event, such as a real time presentation. You
may produce an artefact individually or in a group. (To work in a group you will need to
know someone else on the module who is having to submit reassessment work and be able
to contact them. For group artefacts, all students in the group will be awarded the same
mark, unless the module coordinator judges that exceptional circumstances require
otherwise.)

1 A Powerpoint slide show refers to a Powerpoint file containing a set of slides that opens in full screen mode
and then displays the slides without requiring the viewer to touch the mouse or keyboard. Powerpoint 2010
gives such files a .ppxs filename extension. You will need to set up appropriate animations and then save the
file as Powerpoint Show, NOT as a Powerpoint Presentation (which is the default file type).

Assessment criteria for artefacts
Your artefacts will be assessed using the same form as was used for peer assessment of
artefacts produced during the module and exhibited on 6/7 May. The form is available on
