Write a response for an advice column

Imagine you work as an advice columnist for a local newspaper or magazine. A parent has written for advice about her 18-year old son who has difficulty committing to anything and usually dismisses his mother’s queries about going to college or getting a job. She becomes very frustrated with her son due to his lack of motivation and refusal to plan for the future. Some of her friends have insisted that the young man’s behavior is normal and the he’ll eventually “come around”.
Respond to the mother’s dilemma, answering the following: Use Marcia’s theory to explain the young man’s identity status. What stage of identity development is this young man most likely in? Be sure to explain the stage in a way the mother can understand. What if anything, can this mother do to help her son reach identity achievement? Use research presented in text to justify your answer. Is his behavior normal as the mother’s friends have suggested, or should the mother be concerned? Explain in your advice column.

As this is a human development paper, your answers/observations should include support from class material, your text or outside sources related to human development. You must cite at least 2 references both within your essay and in a reference page in your paper as to where you found your information. One reference may be your textbook and the other may be another book or journal article. All references and reference page must follow APA format.
