VISUAL NARRATIVE
[STEP 2] create a storyboard that relates to one of the following imaginary cities:
With respect to the storyboard, you may (i) use up to two* of the storyboard templates provided, (ii) draw into the template yourself AND/OR photocopy found imagery and cut and paste into the template, AND/OR composite the storyboard template in a program such as photoshop.
*more is not always better – just tell a good visual story.
Found imagery such as from Google Image Search may be used for this assignment. As well as imagery from newspapers, magazines, books, etc. Cite your sources in a bibliography.
Your storyboard can depict the entire story about the imaginary city OR you may depict portion or an element. For example, you may decide to visually explain one element such as a staircase. Or, you may decide to explain the entire narrative. Or, you may decide to explain one element using two different strategies/concepts from the video that we watched at the beginning of the semester on visual literacy…one could explain a staircase using Scale, but also through Rhythm + Balance. BE CREATIVE.
[STEP 3] Write an essay that explains each one of the frames of your storyboard, how your storyboard works, and the thought process behind the board. The explanation should include the design elements you are employing from the list of Graphic Design Basics (see above in Option 1).
