the regulations affecting that type of business
the competition in that type of business
the impact of supplies/suppliers
the substitutes which exist (e.g., email is a substitute for paper mail)
the impact of technology
+ any other interesting or useful information available
Task: In a correctly formatted memo report addressed to Professor Michael Jewell, describe the type of business in detail. Clearly explain why that particular type of business is struggling based on your research.
Use any sources that seem appropriate, but make sure you go beyond the surface and ensure that your sources are authoritative. Learn what you can about the industry. Is there a social or political climate that you should account for? What do people want? Keep track of your sources: cite them in the text and list them in your References. Incorrect attribution causes a substantial reduction in your report grade.
