In this part of the project you will be writing and solving an expected value problem and creating two tessellations; translation and rotation.
⦁ (20 pts total) Carnival Game: Consider this problem below that we did in class. This problem has a spinner with one set of probabilities (3 choices) and cards with another set of probabilities (2 choices). It also has a probability tree and expected value. As part of your project you will create a similar problem with different probabilities. It should include
⦁ (5 pts)A raffle/contest with at least two prizes and a number of tickets sold.
⦁ (5 pts)A spinner and cards.
⦁ (5 pts)A probability tree and calculations solved for each possible outcome.
⦁ (5 pts)The calculations for the expected value of your contest.

⦁ (30 pts total) You will be making two types of tessellations that will end up on 8 x 11 sheets of paper. You will be documenting your progress with photos about how you created your base piece and traced your tessellation before decorating your final page. You may add notes and comments to your photo to explain what you did. Remember document your progress well with photos.

⦁ (15 pts) Translation Tessellation:
⦁ Cut out the regular hexagon as your base piece. You may want to use a piece of cardstock or cardboard for a firmer piece.
⦁ Using the directions in the textbook as a guide to create a base piece for a translation tessellation. Translation involved cutting a figure out of one side of the hexagon and moving it across the hexagon to the other side. Each of the side of the original hexagon should be either cut from or added to so that no original hexagon sides remain.
⦁ Once your base piece is done trace around it to show how it tessellates a 8 x 11 sheet of paper. Decorate your tessellation.

⦁ (15 pts) Rotation Tessellation:
⦁ Cut out the regular hexagon as your base piece. You may want to use a piece of cardstock or cardboard for a firmer piece.
⦁ Using the directions in the textbook as a guide to create a base piece for a rotation tessellation. Rotation involved cutting a figure out of one side of the hexagon and rotating it across the vertex of the hexagon to the other side. Each of the side of the original hexagon should be either cut from or added to so that no original hexagon sides remain.
⦁ Once your base piece is done trace around it to show how it tessellates a 8 x 11 sheet of paper. Decorate your tessellation.
