Summary of Needs Assessments
In the needs assessment, I interviewed the counselor at Purvis Upper Elementary School, and she is very knowledgeable. She enjoys the school schedule because the teachers have most of the same vacation days as the students. The school benefits the community in many ways, but there are a lot of bureaucratic processes to get through. She talked about how the school system is too focused on assessing and teaching, but we need to make learning more pleasurable. One challenge she discussed was that there are requirements aside from actually teaching. The educators need to have the capability to contribute additional time instructing. The teachers must try to be in the middle of the science and art of teaching. The counselor asked why the staff is more stressed out this year than last. More things are being added and not a lot is getting taken away. A lot of the ladies that work at the school are most likely married and have a kid or two, so they have stress coming from inside along with outside the school. I am going to develop a program to help the staff manage their stress.
The personal benefits to the population in learning about this issue are great. Teachers have a lot of stress that comes from inside the school, and outside of the school. As I previously mentioned, they need a lot of tools and techniques to help them with their stress management. My agency will be a better place after having heard my presentation on stress management because they will hear some tips for how to manage their stress. The advantages of gaining knowledge about the topic are they will not be as stressed out.

Cultural Considerations
After researching stress management between cultures, I found an article about warrior culture and suicide. Extreme stress may lead to suicide, and that outcome is higher for some groups than others. The warrior-type jobs include law enforcement, military, as well as veterans. People have to think about what goes through the minds of others who are stationed or deployed and have to go fight in wars, fires, or gun-downs. At times, nobody realizes how much stress that they have to deal with or they may never know, and that is when terrible things might happen.

Negative Outcomes
One of the core concepts under the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Body of Knowledge is Individual Well-being. All of the basic human needs )such as clean air and water, food, shelter, and clothing) must be met. Individual well-being often includes the ability to manage stress. If somebody has excessive stressors, there may be no way to cope, and this affects their individual well-being. Physically, they may get digestive or heart problems or a headache. On the other hand, emotionally, they may yell at their family because they are at their wit’s end. For some family strengths, for spirituality, they can gain some hope and build their resiliency.

When looking at Urie Broffenbenner’s Human Ecological model, the individual is affected by all the other systems, including the micro-, meso-, and exosystems. The microsystem is the family and can include the close community that is like family members.
Identifying Stressors
For Life Course Development, which is an Integrative Element, we can think of the transitions and changes people go through, for instance getting married and having a baby. These life transitions can add a lot of stress to a person.
