Sociology of Crime

Instructions:
(1) Unless instructed otherwise, all assessments must be submitted electronically through
the relevant Moodle Turnitin links. The submission links will be posted on the relevant
course page at least two weeks before the deadline. The links are typically posted in the
‘Assessments’ section of the Moodle space for each module.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have uploaded the correct, final document, and
that it is uploaded before the deadline. Do not leave submission to the last minute, as
deadlines are strictly enforced. You should retain your digital receipt of assessment
submission.
(2) Assessments submitted after the deadline will be capped at 40%. No assessments are
accepted after two weeks following the initial deadline.
(3) The only exceptions to this are if you have submitted a ‘Mitigating Circumstances’ claim
which is accepted by the Department as grounds for allowing a late submission.
Mitigating Circumstances are significant, unforeseen and unpreventable circumstances
that disrupted your academic performance (such as illness). Requests for Mitigating
Circumstances to be considered in the case of a late essay submission must be submitted
directly to the Department of Criminology Administration Team, along with the
appropriate documentary evidence (e.g., a medical note), within two weeks of the initial

(4) Failure to submit an assessment will result in a zero for that assignment. All re-sit
assessments (e.g., second attempts) will be capped at the pass mark of 40%, unless there
are Mitigating Circumstances.
