Your essay should include the following parts:
• Introduction (1 paragraph):
o Introduce the topic you will describe in a manner that gets the reader interested

o Contextualize: Your readers may not know the topic you are analyzing; you may
need to briefly describe key characteristics of the subject before you can discuss
the effects. Items that are well-known need only brief descriptions. Items that are
not so well-known require a more detailed summary.
o Be sure to include an explicitly stated thesis that maps out the specific main
points of the essay. Your thesis should contain key words from both/multiple
sides of the debate on your specific piece of technology and its effect.
• Body (2-6 paragraphs):
o Explain the differing perspectives on the issue with specific evidence. Use
quotes or paraphrased ideas, and draw direct connections to the impact of the
technology.
o You must use at least two quotes per body paragraph and utilize the quote
sandwich model. Each quote must have an in-text citation.
o Ensure that the essay conveys the appropriate tone to convey an objective survey
of the opposing viewpoints. The reader should not know which side you agree
with.
• Conclusion (1 paragraph):
o Signal to the reader that you are through presenting new ideas by restating your
thesis.

• Works Cited Page (final page):

your essay, according to MLA format.
