Procedure
You should have decided on your team roles in your Pre-Lab assignment. Follow the procedure
associated with your role below.
Operations Manager and Process Mapper Procedure
1. Open the computer program you will be using to create a process map (i.e.
https://app.diagrams.net/ , PowerPoint, Visio, etc.).
2. Using Table 1 found on the next page, develop a process map that captures the current
process being followed for the Unloading Tasks. Your process map should include all
Unloading Tasks and should display repeated tasks (i.e. unloading 4 ULDs should be split
into 4 elements of your process map). To help you organize the Unloading Tasks, Person
completing the task, as well as the time required to complete the task, a sample template

3. Once your process map is complete, save it and move on to Step 4.

Lab Procedure
4. The cargo plane delivering the relief supplies must be at another location after dropping off
the supplies at your site. This requires the unloading tasks to be completed in 70 minutes.
The current process is taking 2 people to complete all tasks in 86 minutes. Based on your
process map and the total task times Table 1 below, the Site Manager at your Humanitarian
Relief site is interested in feedback from your team on how they can optimize their
unloading process to decrease the total time.
a. Your task is to make a list of recommendations (i.e. staffing, process changes, etc.)
to your Site Manager that would decrease total cargo plane unloading/reloading
time to keep it within the 70 minute requirement. You should also have
justifications for your recommendations. Your justified recommendations will be
included in your Executive Summary post-lab writing assignment.
