From a local retail store, analyze current marketing efforts, and make recommendations for
improvement. Elements you will use for this project include the store itself and any local
advertising the store uses. You may also use the resources associated with the course. Include
at least three references in your report. All references should be formatted in APA with
appropriate in- text citations.
Prior to beginning the project please review the rubric so that your research and writing efforts
match the criteria on which your project will be evaluated. Consider choosing a target store that
you are not familiar with so you can approach it from a fresh perspective. It can help you to see
things you would be blind to in a store you are very familiar with. Also, take the time to visit the
target store more than once and see what new elements of marketing you can identify on each
trip. In addition, attempt to find local (flyers, newspaper ads, etc.) or online advertising (website)
for the store you are visiting. Also attempt to identify if the store does promotions, takes
coupons, doubles them, or ad matches with other store. These will all make for a more
comprehensive and accurate final project.
Finally, keep in mind that you will have a richer experience and more comprehensive report if
you look not just for those elements of marketing that are in play (in and out of the store), but
also those that are missing.
