Research Paper
The projects will be on one of the following subjects:
1. Studies of particular in-progress or completed projects, including of the management procedures used, planning and control procedures, stages of systems development, and so on (e.g., an airport facilities upgrade project, an aircraft maintenance project, an airport electrical contractor project, etc). Students actually investigate a current or completed project by going onsite, interviewing the project manager and participants, reviewing documentation, and so on. They prepare a summary report of the project and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of its management.
2. Studies of project management procedures practiced by companies (e.g. a fixed base operator, an aircraft electronics corporation, an aircraft parts manufacturer). Students go into an organization, learn about their procedures for managing projects, then prepare a report summarizing findings with recommendations for improving the procedures.
Papers will be a minimum of 5 pages double spaced in APA format. The title page and reference page will not count as one of the 5 pages. Tables, graphs, pictures will not count as one of the 5 pages.
