Protecting the past and present: Cultural Heritage
You are required to demonstrate your ability to analyse the topic, your comprehension of
the issue and its impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander societies. You can
discuss your own opinions of the topic based on your research. The usual referencing is
required and there is an expectation that you will read a range of articles, journals, book
chapters and internet sites to undertake appropriate research. We are interested in the
development of your research skills and critical analysis skills. The ability to write
concisely, making connections between the points you make, and formulating an
argument will also be considered. Your assignment must include:
? Abstract – a summary of your research and findings;
? Table of Contents;
? Introduction – introduce the topic and how you will go about your
research;
? Literature Scan (succinct Literature review) – what did you find on your
topic;
? Findings/Analysis – analyse the material you researched;
? Discussion – discuss your view of the topic and any insights as a result of
the research.
? Conclusion – summary of your paper and any conclusions you have
drawn.
You will be assessed on the following criteria.
Research – background research and presentation of your research which supports the
opinions and points you make in the presentation
Critical analysis – your analysis of the subject and depth of understanding
Learning – whether this topic youve chosen has supported your learning and that is
evident in your presentation
Referencing Style – correct use of an accepted referencing style, such as Harvard, APA
or other accepted styles. Please indicate on the assignment coversheet.
