Assessment Task

You are required to produce a Project Report which discusses the current status of an identified real-world football development project.

The Report will be used as part of the project planning and development process to ensure continuous improvement. It should therefore be aimed at a wide audience which may include Football Development practitioners, funding organisations, delivery or funding partners and volunteers.

The Project Report should focus on ONE of the following Principles of Football development and should discuss the implications that this principle has for the project:

Principle 1: Offer a High Quality Introduction

Principle 2: Engage with Participants through a Range of Formats

Principle 3: Develop Clubs and Leagues

Principle 4: Recruit and Retain the Football Workforce

Principle 5: Use Suitable Facilities in a Sustainable Way

With the selected Principle of Football Development in mind, the report should examine the following features of the project: Project Context; Project Inputs; Project Activities; Project Outputs; Project Outcomes

A suggested Report structure is provided below:

• Title Page
  • You should choose a suitable title for your report – you are advised to include the name of the project in this title.
• Contents Page
• Introduction (approx. 250 words)
  • Here you should set out the purpose and content of the report (NOT the project) by briefly introducing the Project and the selected Principle of Football Development.
• Project Context (approx. 400 words)
  • This section sets out the background and rationale for the project – What is it? Who is involved? Why does it exist?
• Project Inputs (approx. 400 words)
  • This section details the key resources that are available to and/or required by the project to ensure its success
• Project Activities (approx. 400 words)
  • This section provides an overview of the football development work involved in the project, either which has already been done or is still to be done
• Project Outputs (approx. 400 words)
  • This section provides evidence (from primary or secondary data) of the short-term impacts (or potential impacts) of the project and/or any shortfalls in impact
• Project Outcomes (approx. 400 words)
  • This section should highlight the potential longer term and wider impacts of the project beyond the immediate objectives
• Project Concept Map
  • You should provide a diagram which illustrates the connectivity of key ideas. You may base your diagram on an existing framework, but the content must align with your report. For example, you should include aspects of the inputs, activities, outputs or outcomes discussed in the report and features of the underlying Principle of Football Development. Words in this illustration do not count towards the overall word limit.
• Summary (approx. 250 words)
  • Here you should highlight some of the key ideas covered in the report and bring the document to a close
• Reference List

Under each heading you must discuss the implications for or arising from the selected Principle of Football Development by referring to a range of academic, industry, popular and policy sources, citing these appropriately in Harvard style. You should include examples of practice in the project itself or in other projects at a local, national or global level to support or exemplify your ideas.
