Social Media/ Online Safety
In the technological world of today, it’s very difficult to find any electronic device or
machine without an attachment of digital technology incorporated in some way. Important to
note is that, all the digital technologies such as social media, multimedia, and online games
has both benefits and risks. Social media is the most used aspect of digital technology and
also carries the greatest risk of online safety. This paper focuses on discussing online safety

Individuals and organizations use different social sites such as Facebook,
Twitter, Instagram, Linked In, Pinterest, and YouTube among others. However,

that constant mushrooming of new social sites and their reliance on use put the user’s
safety at stake. Individuals risk online bullying, identity theft, privacy invasion
pornography and mental health problems among other risks (Epps, 13).
Organizations risk cybercrime such as loss of IP and sensitive data, ransomware and forced

During organizational operations, the IP address can be hacked. Hacking can lead
to loss of very sensitive information (Broadhurst et al., 188). Therefore, organizations
must always use updated software and anti-viruses to protect themselves from such types of
cyber threats. Some criminals threaten the organization on sale of the company’s information
