In this assessment task you are provided with a scenario and relevant patient information.

You will research and apply clinical reasoning to understand the patient’s presentation and then explain the rationale for therapeutic management of this patient.

This individual assignment will require you to submit a 5-minute video recording to demonstrate;

your understanding of this patient’s condition and the therapeutic management
your ability to communicate health information
Within the task you will be required to use appropriate and accurate discipline specific language.

IN YOUR OWN WORDS, you will need to:

Explain the rationale for therapeutic approaches for this patient as identified in the supporting document.
Relate the therapeutic approaches to the pathophysiological presentation of this patient.
Use appropriate terminology and communication style.

Your submission will be assessed against the following criteria. You are strongly encouraged to review the marking rubric for this assessment task as it provides more detailed information about the assessment criteria.

Assessment Criteria
Criterion 1 : Explain the rationale for therapeutic approaches for the patient.

Criterion 2: Relate the therapeutic approach to the pathophysiological presentation of the patient, with reference to relevant anatomical structures and physiological processes when appropriate.

Criterion 3: Use appropriate terminology and communication style to explain the patient’s health condition and rationale for therapeutic approaches.

Task length: 5-minute of speaking ( 500 words)

This task evidences achievement in following learning outcomes:

ILO1: Explain pathophysiological processes, signs and symptoms of acute and chronic health conditions affecting the digestive, nervous, endocrine, musculoskeletal and reproductive systems, and multiple body systems.

ILO2: Integrate biological information to explain common diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions used in the management of patients with acute and chronic health conditions affecting the digestive, nervous, endocrine, musculoskeletal, and reproductive systems, and multiple body systems.

ILO3: Communicate using scientific and clinical terminology relevant to alterations in the digestive, nervous, endocrine, musculoskeletal and reproductive systems, and pathophysiological processes that affect multiple body systems.

Criteria
1. Explained the rationale for therapeutic approaches, specific to the patient
Presented a comprehensive and detailed understanding of the mechanisms of action and aims of medication therapies for the patient.
Presented a comprehensive and detailed understanding of the aim of interventions specific to the patient.
The presentation demonstrated comprehensive understanding of the physiological effects, or detection of pathophysiological changes of therapies or interventions.
The presentation demonstrated comprehensive application of current evidence-informed knowledge appropriate for the patient situation.

2. Related the therapeutic approach to the pathophysiological presentation of the specific patient, with reference to relevant anatomical structures and physiological processes when appropriate
Clearly and comprehensively related the chosen therapeutic interventions to the patient presentation, including relevant anatomical structures and/or physiological and/or pathophysiological processes
AND
as relevant, correctly articulated the expected evidence of effective intervention for this patient
3. Use appropriate terminology and communication to explain the patient’s health condition and rationale for therapeutic approaches
The communication throughout the submission is logically organised, presented in a concise manner, is accurate, relevant, and understandable because the rate of delivery, volume of speech and articulation were suitable, AND correctly used discipline-specific language, when appropriate.
