The Nature of Study

As a qualitative study, the research will use a phenomenological design which will enable the study to conduct an in-depth analysis of health and healthcare inequality. The study also applied a qualitative methodology, which will help determine the research tools used for data collection (Trochim & Land, 1982). The qualitative method will help the researchers identify how they can approach their subject and tools or methods to use to collect data. The research design help understands the concept of the research is using to approach the study, while the qualitative method help determines the tools that will be used to collect information from the participant (O’Sullivan et al., 2017). Since the study is based on understanding behavioral patterns and individual experience and thought on the state of inequality in health care, qualitative methods and design were applicable. These methods and designs provide a comprehensive approach in answering the research question by focusing on patterns and individual thought, experience, and behavior towards understanding the state of health inequality. The methodology, research question, and design align by addressing gaps in healthcare equality through a qualitative approach.

The target population for the study includes minority groups (African American and Hispanic). The study area focused will be in California states to help determine the state of health inequality and its impact on health delivery. The data will be collected through primary and secondary sources, where primary sources will involve interviews, questionnaires, surveys, and secondary data collected from online journals and course material (Walden University. 2010). The sampling method used included random sampling that provides the study with a wider scope of data collection (Rudestam & Newton, 2015). Ethical issues concerned with the study include formal consent and participant autonomy. The study’s validity is considered valid because every cross-sectional section of the study belongs to the same study section. Concept analysis will be used to analyze the data collected. This will enable the researcher to measure various variables in the study and their application to the main concept.

• Secondary – existing data from literatures that has already been collected, historical records, medical records and databases, previously published. The variable covered with be on race, policies and age and gender of the participants

Limitations, Challenges, and /or Barriers

Since the study is based on a qualitative approach that will focus on collecting the data from diverse communities through interviews and questionnaires. As such, various challenges were encountered in the process that makes the process of combining the research complex. An issue like participant involvement in the study was difficult, as some participants did not provide information as provided, cases of bias and misinformation were encountered, which affected the process of data collection and engagement of the subjected in the research. It was difficult having all the participants adhere to the research regulation and rules and comply to the IRB regulation such as properly filling the consent form and showing professionalism in the research process. Time also was another area of concern since the study involves an online and direct data collection process. The study faced constraints on gathering and aligning all the research segments to ensure a sequential alignment of information, which was also time-consuming and complex.
