ASSESSMENT INSTRUCTIONS
A. TIMING
The submission deadline for this assessment is 10.30 am on the date set out in your
submission link.
Assessments submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. If you do not submit
the assessment in accordance with the deadline you will automatically be marked
as ‘Absent’ and will therefore have failed this attempt of the assessment.
Extensions can only be granted in very limited circumstances.
If you face difficulties, please read the page entitled ‘What to do Should Things go
Wrong’ when things go wrong’, which is available in the Assessments Hub. You can also
contact your personal tutor.
B. SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
Before the submission deadline, you must prepare and submit an electronic copy of ONE
document in PDF format comprising:
1. A cover sheet, in any suitable format, including a student declaration: “I [NAME]
declare that the Reflective Statement submitted contains [actual number] of
words. I have read and fully understand the University Policy relating to Academic
Misconduct as cited on the VLE”.
2. Your reflective statement, with reference list (if applicable).
3. Portfolio evidence, containing tasks demonstrating the development of one of
your oral skills (and relevant contextualising statements).
4. Portfolio evidence, containing tasks demonstrating the development of one of
your written skills (and relevant contextualising statements).
The above items are referred to together as the ‘Submission Document’. You must submit
the Submission Document as one single document. The Submission Document must
be in the format required by section E below.
You must submit your Submission Document via Turnitin. Details of how to do this are
set out below.
By submitting the Submission Document, you will be confirming that:
1. you were fit to undertake the assessment during the assessment period, and
you were not aware of any medical or other extenuating circumstances or
concessionary factor that would impair your performance during the assessment
period. If you do not wish to give such confirmation, please do not submit the
Submission Document. Instead, you would need to apply to the Office of
Regulation and Compliance for Mitigating Circumstances in order to avoid your
failure to submit being treated as an absence and therefore a failure of the
assessment; and
2. the assessment is your own unaided work and that you have not consulted with
any other person in any way about this assessment (other than a tutor).
C. SUBMISSION VIA TURNITIN
You will find the link to the Turnitin submission page on the Hub on the Portfolio STC
page, under the ‘Portfolio Submission’ tile. For best compatibility, please access the link
using Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome browsers.
If you cannot see the relevant Turnitin link for your cohort and submission date, please
contact the programme team.
1. To submit your Submission Document, click the Submit Paper button.
2. The submission page will open. Enter a title for your Submission Document,
which must follow this format: SRN Location Cohort (e.g. ‘BP0123456 Holborn
Feb Start 2022’). If you are a distance learning student, please use the initials
‘DL’ for your location.
3. Either:
a. click on the Add file button and select the file for submission; or
b. drag the file and drop it into the large box.
4. Your file must be in PDF format (and also comply with the requirements of section
E below). No other format can be accepted.
5. After entering a title for your Submission Document and selecting a file, click
Upload this file to upload your paper.
6. After you confirm your submission, a digital receipt will be shown. Please print or
record the number provided.
D. TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY
Please note that Turnitin is operated by an external provider and occasionally we have
experienced technical problems which are outside of BPP’s control, which have delayed
or prevented the successful submission of assessments. Please ensure that you submit
your Submission Document in good time to allow you to address any issues which may
arise.

E. FORMAT
Please ensure that the Submission Document complies with the following requirements:
1. The name of the document must consist only of your SRN (e.g.
‘BP0123456.docx’);
2. The font must be consistent throughout the text, using 12pt font size, with
standard margins and with line spacing of at least 1.5;
3. The name of the document (i.e. your SRN) must appear in either the header or
the footer on every page; and
4. The page number and the total number of pages should also appear on every
page (e.g. ‘page 3 of 5’).
F. WORD COUNT LIMIT AND COLLUSION
Your reflective statement must be no longer than 2,000 words in total (excluding any
references).
Each contextualising statement must be no longer than 300 words.
However, there is no formal word limit for the contents of the portfolio evidence.
This assessment must be your own unaided work. You must not consult with any other
person in any way about your assessment (other than a tutor). This instruction is in
addition to all the provisions contained in the General Academic Regulations.
It is your responsibility to keep your work secure during the assessment period. In
particular, you should take care not to leave drafts where other students could have
access to them and, if you are using one of the personal computers in the library, IT room
or study areas, you are advised to save your work e.g. to your BPP Office 365 account.
Remember to log off if you leave the workstation and to remove any memory stick.
You should read Part H of the General Academic Regulations (GARs) and Part H Section
10 of the Manual of Policies and Procedures (MoPPs) online on the Hub under ‘Help &
Support > Support Services > University Regulations & Policies /Guidance
Documentation’, as these deal with the regulation of assessments (particularly Part H,
sections 16–27 of the GARs and Part H Section 10 of the MoPPs concerning Academic
Malpractice).
G. GENERAL
Please note that you are able to resubmit different versions of your project up to the
submission deadline on the relevant date (for instance, if you have uploaded the wrong
version of your project). However, any attempted submission after that deadline will not
be accepted or marked.
In the past, students using only memory sticks or USB drives, without saving their work
elsewhere, have sometimes had their work corrupted or lost altogether from the memory
stick. If this happens to you, it could mean that you are not able to submit your
assessment in time and therefore are marked as ‘Absent’ and therefore fail the
assessment. To avoid this problem, please keep back-up copies of your work as you go
along, in accordance with prudent IT practice. In particular, it is advised that you should
not rely on memory sticks alone.
You must not write your name anywhere on your submission, but please do ensure that
you include your SRN as the document title and on every page of your assessment.
