l you will need to answer the following questions/ do the following:
• Summary Statement: Include a succinct statement of what problem/issue is being
addressed and what you plan to do.
• Background Statement and Facts: Include the factual background on the
problem/issue addressed by the proposal.
• Explain Details of the Proposal: Provide a description of what is being proposed.
• How well does this proposal solve/remedy the problem/issue being addressed? Does
the proposal provide a complete solution to the problem/issue? Are there aspects of the
problem/issue that the proposal does not/cannot address?
• Stakeholder Analysis in Nigeria:
a. What groups would likely support this proposal? What groups would likely
oppose it? (Who wins and who loses from the policy you propose in Nigeria?)
b. What objections might opponents raise to this proposal? What is our response to
those objections?
c. Why do the benefits of the policy you propose outweigh the costs?
• Foreign policy ramifications: What are the likely effects of your policy in the
international arena?
In doing so, you will need to draw on what we have learned FDI.
Specifically, you should draw on lectures from Weeks 4 & 5 and the readings for those classes.
In your paper, you should cite at least two articles from the Frieden, Lake, and Broz reader for
those weeks.
You should also cite any of articles listed above that you use to make your argument.
You may also use any other sources you find and cite my lectures. Use proper citations.
To achieve this goal rhetorically and technically you will need:
● Create a piece of writing composed of several paragraphs that total no more than 2 pages,
single spaced with one-inch margins and 12-point font.
o Yes, this is incredibly short BUT it is what you actually have to do for
policymakers
o Note: we will stop reading after 2 pages and nothing beyond those two pages will
count towards the grade
● The paper should have an introductory and conclusion paragraph.
o The introduction should clearly state which position you are taking. You must
take a position. It should also introduce the problem.
o The conclusion should summarize your argument and restate your position.
● There should be multiple paragraphs between the introduction and conclusion.
o Each paragraph should make the case for your argument.
o You will probably first want to discuss the reasons for your positions.
o Then discuss what reasons are against your position.
o Then refute the reasons against your position.
● Write paragraphs that create a continuous text and not separate pieces. Each paragraph
should have a distinct focus but should also show how each paragraph is connected to the
paper as a whole. Specifically, each paragraph should have a transition sentence(s) at the
beginning and/or at the end that shows the relationship between the ideas in the previous
paragraph, this paragraph, and the subsequent paragraph.
● Cite the readings that you use. Use parenthetical references with a page number, where
applicable. For example, Rogowski argues …. (Rogowski 2017, 23).
● Include a bibliography on a separate page (not counting for the page limit). You may use
whatever format of bibliography you like.
● Uses proper vocabulary and grammar.
● Few typos, spelling errors, etc.
