Planning and Controlling

Below are the instructions listed. I provided an attachment with my plan that should be included in the planning process of the paper. I have also attached the chapters necessary for both parts. Please reference them!

A. Planning section.

1. Strengths inventory: Different occupations require special talents, abilities, and skills. Each of us, you included, has a repertoire of existing strengths that are “raw materials” we presently offer a potential employer. Actions can (and should!) be taken over time to further develop current strengths and to turn certain weaknesses into strengths. Make a list identifying your most important strengths and areas you deem important to develop in relation to the career direction you are likely to pursue upon graduation (whether or not you are currently employed). This might also be the career direction you would like to pursue upon graduation. Place a * next to each item you consider most important to focus on for continued personal development. Of important note, there is a tendency to consider things we don’t do well as weaknesses. For this assignment, I urge you to think instead of the talents or skills you would need to develop if you are to achieve your goals. E.g., A colleague was told that she needed to develop her skills using Excel pivot tables. If that task was essential for her success, then it would be wise for her to develop in that area. If on the other hand, she had no desire to ever use Excel pivot tables, or got no pleasure from using Excel pivot tables, it might be wiser to direct her energy in an area that fuels her drive and adds to her motivation. As you think about areas you wish to develop, ask yourself whether this is an area that would be instrumental in achieving your goals. Similarly, ensure that the strengths you identify, are indeed talents that energize you and you would not mind doing for a very long time. (10 points)
