I received an U in your class during the Summer 2020 semester. I am writing to request a W grade because of the consequences of my son’s misconduct. On July last year my eleven (11) years old son committed an act of arson by lighting a posted paper on the bulletin board in a building on the complex we live in. Therefore, he was arrested by the police. We went to the family court many times to meet a judge regarding the matter. However, my son wasn’t sent to jail because of his age. As the parent, the damage committed by my son was sent to my record.
I paid three(3) penalties for violation of the community rules. On top of that, the board of Riverbay is asking me to pay another $ 9,250.00 for restoration of the damaged area.
Furthermore, at the beginning of the summer, I received a Notice to Cure from the lawyer of RIVERBAY. I taught we were being evicted in this difficult time. I couldn’t put my head around that the situation. I was so afraid for the worst case scenario to move into a shelter with my family. I had nightmare for the security of my family.
It was a very stressful time for me to be able to have full focus on my class assignments and tests. Avery day, after class regardless the peak of the COVID 19 pandemic, I was going to work ( in the Emergency Room as a frontline worker). I was trying to make some extra money to pay for the damage. Even if I had passed this class, I would honestly applied for a leave of absence because the situation is getting worst. RIVERBAY stopped claiming my checks for the rent until we go to the HOUSING COURT. This matter is my priority right now.
I am very concerned about my GPA, my financial aid status and I wouldn’t be able to continue paying my tuition out of my pocket.
I have been informed that an email from you stating whether you approve or do not approve the request can be accepted in lieu of your signature. Please let me know your decision so that I might submit the appeal. My documentation and statement are attached.
