Patient Satisfaction in Healthcare

Each student will submit a 2,000 to 2,500 word, double-spaced (Times New Roman font and 1-inch margins) literature review of 4 health services research studies focused on patient, user,
client, or customer satisfaction published in a peer-reviewed journal. You may choose the same topic as your team
project, but not the same articles as team member

What is a literature review?
It focuses on a specific topic of interest to you and includes a critical analysis of the relationship among different works. It
is a stand-alone paper. Your paper should include the following sections: Introduction, Methods/Results, and
Discussion/Conclusion.

Introduction Section
Step 1: Decide on a topic
You may choose a topic that is of personal interest or you may choose a topic associated with your team project. If the
latter, you may not use the same articles as anyone else in your team. For the introduction, I need to know the topic, the
key words you used, and a brief list of the four articles you will be reviewing. An example of a list:
In this literature review, I will discuss four articles focused on nursing home management: Davis (2005);
Castle and Peterson (2016); Mor, Zinn, and Holl (2010); and Zinn, Brown, Castle, et al. (2007).

Methods/Results Section
Step 3: Write your Methodology Section
In the Methods section of the paper answer the following questions for each article:
1. What is the purpose of the research? How does each article differ from the others?
2. What is the problem the authors are trying to address in this study? How does the problem differ by article?
3. Briefly summarize the literature review or introduction of each article. After reading each, what have you learned
about the problem that the four articles are seeking to study?
4. What are the research hypotheses or questions by article?
5. Which articles are qualitative, and which are quantitative? Which is descriptive, exploratory, or explanatory?
6. What population or subjects will the authors include in their study? Is the method of collecting the sample clearly
explained?  How many subjects are included in the study?
7. Describe the instrument (i.e. is it a survey/questionnaire, interviews, observations, literature review, etc.)?  If stated,
what is the reliability and/or validity?
8. What limitations do the authors mention?
9. What were the findings or conclusions of each study? Do they make sense to you? Why or why not?
10.  What suggestions did the authors make for further research in the problem area?
