Does it matter if I have the same information in the Report and the Assignment?

No, this is expected as the assignment is an in-depth discussion and critical review of your proposal.  The report will show your report writing skills and ability to present a proposal in a succinct manner.  Your assignment will show your ability to critically evaluate the proposal.

Does the report need to be referenced?

Yes, the report will be referenced as it would be a requirement if you were presenting this information in a report format in practice.

The references will be very similar from the report and the assignment is that acceptable?

Yes, they will be very similar you should have more for your assignment which is a critical evaluation of the proposal.

Should I make reference to the report in my assignment?

Where appropriate it may be helpful to refer to a section of your report, for example you may say see section 3 of the report.

How can I critically evaluate something that has not happened yet as I am writing a proposal only?

In your written assignment you will be evaluating your idea for commissioning or practice innovation, exploring the background to your idea and the influences which prompted your approach from a public health perspective.

The word debate is used in the marking criteria; can you clarify what this means?

You should discuss the reasons for and against your proposal, the strengths and weaknesses; this will add the element of debate to your assignment

In the Report Template there is a section on Costings – how much information is needed in this section as I do not have detailed financial information

You are not expected to provide a detailed financial breakdown of your proposal.  However you could demonstrate your awareness of the costs involved for example:

• Employment of a new member of staff
• Hire of a venue
• Cost of resources
• Cost of training
• Associated costs
• Disruption of a service

Bullet points can be used to identify costs, but not details (you do not have to list prices or detailed salary costs).  Your proposal may have hidden costs, or may be cost neutral.

In the Report Template there is a section which makes reference to the Public Health Outcomes Framework and the 4 Domains within this Framework; does my proposal have to link to all 4 Domains?

No, your proposal may only relate to one, there is no requirement to address all of them.

The Report Template consists of 174 words, will this be deducted from the total word count for the Report?

Yes the word count is based on your words and the 174 words that make up the template will not be included, you can write 750 words (plus or minus 10%).

What about issues around confidentiality, if I am discussing a service that is currently in existence

If information is in the public domain then it can be used.  Do not use information that would otherwise be confidential to an organisation and only known to you due to your privileged position as a student nurse on placement in that area.
