Music that causes stress relief
DESCRIPTION: First, students will research, listen, select and critically analyze (3) musical song selections (from any genre of music—clean lyrics only) of their choosing that provides stress relief. Then, make a persuasive case for how music can relieve stress for college students during this critical season of crisis as you participate in our ‘Stress Relief Through Music’ campaign on iHeart Radio. Next, provide a thorough analysis of just (ONE) of those songs using the steps in the OREO critical thinking organizational structure. Finally, identify how your music choice attempts to provide relief through music in your paper and prepare a 2 to 3 minute oral persuasive presentation for radio.
REQUIREMENTS: (1) Submit project in iCollege in the Assignment dropbox located under the ‘Assessment’ tab. (2) Standard title page with running head; (3) 1″ margins all four sides; (4) Minimum four (4) references required; No Wikipedia sources allowed (5) References must be listed in alphabetical order in APA style; (6) Annotation provided for each reference containing 2 to 3 sentences that summarizes each source used; (7) Number of pages: 2 to 3 double-spaced/1000-1500 words; excluding title and reference pages; (8) Hanging indentation on each of the references; (9) Must use required headings; introduction, analysis, interpretation and conclusion; (10) number pages in the upper right corner of the paper to comply with APA style guidelines.
ORAL PRESENTATION: Students will submit a 2 to 3 min. oral persuasive overview using the OREO structure along with their electronic submission. Just briefly summarize your project and conclude with “I’m (Your Name) and you’re listening to Stress Relief Through Music here on iHeart Radio. (Play the song and fade out.) Do not exceed the time limit.
ASSESSMENT: The overall project will be graded using a standard rubric for this course and evaluated based on the critical thinking criteria and organizational structure required of this assignment. This project is worth 100 points and counts for 35% of the overall grade in the course.

Make your best selection from your three songs and use the OREO Opinion & Persuasive Speech Writing Method to provide an analysis of why you feel this song should be included in our Stress Relief Through Music campaign. NOTE: Keep in mind your target audience (college students) and be mindful of the challenges people are facing due to the pandemic. For example: your song may uplift, inspire, motivate, encourage, invoke reflection. It may be a dance song, a slow song or even an instrumental song. No offensive lyrics.
