REQUIREMENTS:
Write an academic essay based on the below listed topic:
“Each nation’s government takes steps to help the economy achieve goals of employment, stable prices, and growth. Monetary policy is one of the mechanisms used by a central bank in this regard.” [An economist’s view.]
Your essay must be able to discuss and cover the following important points:
- the need to control fiscal deficit in an economy
- the relationship between fiscal deficits and inflation and how this relationship could be used to achieve stability in an economy.
- how exchange rate differences could be used to control inflation in an economy.
- methods of accounting for price changes in hyperinflationary times.

Submissions to the wrong folder will NOT be marked and constitute a FAIL.
Additional Information
This assignment is to be undertaken on an individual basis and must be submitted before 11.59pm on 4th April 2019. Assignments should be submitted as a soft copy through Turnitin for academic checks and they will be marked on Turnitin.
Students who fail to submit on Turnitin by the required time will be deemed to have not submitted their work and will be subject to standard university penalties for late submission.
Any student who, following submission through Turnitin, has an originality score in excess of 20% needs to contact the module leader(s) as soon as possible and by a week following submission at the latest.
The assignment should not exceed 1,125 words (excldg. references/bibliography).
In accordance with DMU assessment policy essays must be word processed in Arial or Times New Roman font – size 12. Default margins (top and bottom – 2.54cm, left and right – 3.17cm). Please use “justify” (Ctrl+J) for the written text.
You must state the word count on the front page of your report. State only your “P” Number and NOT your name.
Any student who is unable to comply with these formatting requirements will be penalised 5% of the total marks available on the assignment.
