Literature Review
1.Describe the topic of the paper.
2.Methods
-Summary of research method(s) used in the articles reviewed (i.e. 2 studies were clinical trials, one study was a correlation between x and y; 5 studies were survey research, etc).
-Summary of key variables used in studies in the review (all studies tested the efficacy of drugs to treat depression). Depression was measured using….
-Summary description of how the hypothesis was supported (or not) and how questions were answered (or not).
3.Theory
-Summary of theories tested in the articles
-Conclusions about whether the theoretical approaches provided insight into solving the problem
4.Ethics
-Summary of ethical behaviors used by the researchers in the studies
5.Summary and conclusions
-In the first paragraph, identify any findings from any of the studies that are relevant to your interest in the problem. Be sure to cite relevant findings to articles in the review. Each article should have at least one finding relevant to your study. If not, it should not be in your review. (Actually, this may be more than one paragraph depending on how much of relevance you found in the articles you reviewed).
-In the second paragraph, draw conclusions about what was MISSING in the articles you reviewed. What questions did researchers not ask that could be important to resolving the issue or solving the problem? What elements were not investigated at all or were poorly investigated? Were any methods not used that could have provided additional or important information? Did the researchers carefully outline safety and ethical considerations and were these monitored? Your goal in this paragraph is to demonstrate what other researchers have overlooked that could provide an answer, a solution, new perspectives on the issue.
