In this assignment, you need to pick a conflict and map it/assess it in a presentation.

Conflict mapping/assessment is dissecting a conflict into its parts (issues, actors, sources, tactics, changes in the conflict, winners etc.) to better analyze it. In conflict studies, we use different forms of conflict mapping tools (Chris Mitchell’s SPITCEROW, Sandole’s 3Pillar Framework, Wehr’s Conflict Assessment etc.). Various international organizations also use their own models to map conflict cases that they are working on. State Department, USAID, NATO, OECD and others have their own conflict mapping frameworks. In this assignment, I want you to practice one of these frameworks and map a contemporary conflict of your interest.

You can pick this conflict from the below sources if you’d like (you can pick the same conflict that you worked on for other assignments)

Any frozen or ongoing conflict (i.e. Kashmir Conflict, Kurdish-Turkish, North Korea-South Korea, Yemen, Israeli-Palestinian, East China Sea Issue etc.)
Post conflict case (i.e. Colombia, Nagorno-Karabakh).
