Lots of musicians make money when they get hired for a “gig.” Although the word “gig” has several definitions…to a musician, it means that you have been hired to do a job one time or for an unspecified period of time. So you’ve just been hired for your first gig! The owner of a very successful local used car business has hired you to create music for a one minute commercial that would inspire your community, friends, and family to buy a car from her business. Here’s the parameters of your new gig:
You must include the name of the business in your lyrics: Natalie’s Cars-for-less
You should be able to sing/recite the lyrics in around 60 seconds.
Natalie wants to make sure your lyrics create enough interest and excitement to make people want to stop by her lot to check out a car!
No repeated sections! Each line of lyrics should be unique.
Make sure you remember that Natalie is in YOUR community. Don’t write lyrics for a car business in Miami unless that’s where you live right now! And since you’re enrolled in VSC, you don’t live in Miami. The point is, if you live in Myrtle Beach, your lyrics will be different than Orangeburg, or Greenville, Ridgeland, Chesterfield, and on and on and on. Your lyrics should speak to those folks who live where you live!
