The main research question for the paper is how Chinese parents’ perceive their home parental involvement with their children in Italy. The paper is valuable because currently European population is becoming multicultural, and immigrant and minority parents are increasingly involved in school-based activities. The question is based on the goal to give insights into the Chinese immigrants parents perception of their children’s home learning in Italy and the ways they are involved in education. The findings of the paper will allow to build better cooperation with Chinese immigrant parents for school representatives.

This topic was chosen because education is the area that impacts all spheres of human lives, and parents are a key component of their children’s school achievement (Epstein and Sheldon, 2002). Parental involvement has always attracted much attention due to the fact the effective parental involvement often relates to higher grades of students, improved achievements and happiness, whereas poor parental involvement is associated with lower performance (Epstein and Sheldon, 2002). Previous research have studies the school based involvement, however, there are various forms of parental involvement performed across numerous situations, including the home environment. Here, parents represented by Chinese immigrants in Italy often face barriers because they do not deeply understand the European culture, language, and day-to-day habits. The purpose of this study is to give insights into the Chinese immigrants parents perception of their children’s home learning in Italy . By ‘home parental involvement’, this can be interpreted as any possibly support that parents provide in the domestic space, any additional pedagogical materials that parents supply at home, and all other general conversational interactions between parents and their children.
