Three Different Faces
Life is never easy. At least for me. Once, I heard a Japanese quote that a person has three different faces – the first to show to the world, the second for friends and family, and the third the hidden face from all. It might look like some deep quote for some people, but for me, it was more than that. I was not sure about the three faces that a person maintains all the time, but I knew by heart that every people have their secrets. I had my share of such secrets, and I never bothered exposing them to other people, even to my close ones. Looking back, I didn’t even know why I had such different identities with different people. I guess every person must comply with the Japanese quote at different points of their life.
In every individual’s life, there comes a point when an unforgettable event will occur. Whether positive or not, the event varies on the situation, but will most likely that will be remembered forever.
This is when I was in high school in my home country, which is Ethiopia, East Africa. I was 17 years old. Ethiopia is a country well known for Olympic Athletes in the world. It so happened that I once won a 100m marathon in my school life. My parents were amongst the

audience and I could still clearly remember my mother cheering me as if her shouting would give me wings to run. I won most of the cups and championships that day, which naturally made me the best athlete in the school. That’s how my family began to see me as a super athlete guy who just knows how to run and play. My family has known me my whole life as a sports athlete guy. They had seen me winning championships time and again. However, I could not say that the four of the best other athletes were not present that day. The school bus got stuck somewhere on the way, and it stopped a whole bunch of students from participating in the school sports events. Little did my parents know that the school’s best athletes were stuck in the bus that day, which gave me a huge chance to shine that day.
