Assignment Description Primary Response: Within the Discussion Board area, write 200-250 words by Friday that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions with your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas. For this Discussion Board, please complete the following: As we have begun to see in our course, ethics requires clear thinking and consistent action. An ethical decision is required when faced with an ethical dilemma (a complex situation where ethical principles or values are in conflict). Yet, in the real world, ethical decision making can be quite difficult and complex. As we reflect on our own decisions, we are able to improve our ethical decision-making skills. This week, you will explore a time when you or someone you know had to make an ethical decision. Address the following: Describe the situation, the situation you have chosen, explaining whether or not the ethical decision made led to a positive or negative outcome. If you could change the decision or outcome, what would you change, if anything? As we reflect on our own ethical decisions and those of others, we are able to improve our ethical decision-making skills by referring to ethical decision making models such as values-based decision making and balanced ethical decision making. We have seen Lena have to make some ethical decisions in our readings. For examples of ethical decisions, check out Lena’s Ethical Decision – New Car vs Family Time and Lena’s Ethical Decision – Academic Integrity in this Unit’s Intellipath lessons. Lena’s examples can help to set context and guidance as you reflect on ethical decisions you’ve made, the outcomes of those decisions and ways to make even better ones in the future!
