International Orgizations

​critical review framework
The idea here is to take an article or a book dealing with international organizations or non- governmental organizations and subject it to a “critical view.” (a title page will not be necessary).

The Framework
Title
Include two dimensions to your title. The first should be descriptive language (the paper’s subject-matter). And, the second, should refer more specifically to your main point, the organizing theme of your paper.

Introduction– Should be Symmetry with the conclusion
In the first part of the introduction, you can establish the importance of the topic under investigation, why it matters. Then, provide the reader with a sense of the essay’s structure, a brief statement of the paper’s purpose and scope.

The Argument
Here you can present the main ideas advanced in the book or article under review. What is the central case being made?

The Wider Debate
At this point, you could discuss the ways in which your book or article fits (or does not) into the larger conversation. How does it compare with other leading statements on the topic?

The Critique–Write in the paper.
For the critique portion of the essay (and be sure to leave space to allow it to develop), you might isolate three main issues raised in your book and article, three basic themes, and subject them to a critical evaluation.

Conclusion–Restate the central point.
At this stage, refer back to your introduction, your original statement regarding the salience of the topic. Make mention of the strongest and most important theme to surface in your essay and how it might help us to understand the topics at hand.

Style
About the style of the composition, three quick points will suffice. First, you will not need a title page, just get right to it (name, course number in the upper right or left, single-spaced). Second, use times new roman in 12 point font and standard margins. And third, in addition to your paper’s title, use section-headings to signal points of transition in the essay (a single word or a short phrase that captures the essence of what is coming in the section).

Citations
Please use footnotes after the fashion of the Chicago Manual of Style. With regard to the footnotes, remember to put them in times new roman and bring them down to ten-point font. Also, provide a bibliography.​
