Institutionalization of family businesses
The ultimate responsibility for the management and the quality of the dissertation lies with the
Student. There are a number of criteria, which students must fulfil to ensure a high-quality end
product.
The student is responsible for:
• Attending the mandatory informative Dissertation Seminar.
• Selecting a Promoter for their dissertation (not applicable to EU Barcelona campus).
• Scheduling meetings and reaching an agreement with the Promoter regarding the scheduling,
timing and format of the sessions. To ensure that meetings with the Promoters are conducted in an
ordered and logical schedule, students are advised to organize meetings far in advance.
• Maintaining contact with the Promoter throughout the period of the Dissertation face-to-face, by
Skype, MS Teams, telephone or e-mail communication. Dissertation candidates are required to keep
a record of their meetings with the Promoter and, if necessary, with the Dissertation Coordinator.
This record should include an overview of the progress to date, a record of the key issues discussed
and a list of the recommended actions or activities to be undertaken.
