Working collaboratively with a group of people to achieve a specific goal is very crucial for organizations
and institutions. Teamwork is very important when it comes to activities engaging more than a soul.
Colleagues acquire the spirit of teamwork by learning to cooperate with each other putting aside their
personal conflicts and working towards goal realization. Working together as a unit produces quality
work among other benefits.
There is creation of a good relationship among the employees and the employers. Different people from
various walks of life get to socialize and share ideas. Colleagues get to learn different cultures and
appreciate each other. There is understanding and minimal conflicts thus creating a conducive working
environment.
Other than creating a good relationship, individuals working as team get to generate various creative
ideas. Through discussions, skills are shared and there is knowledge of how everyone thinks. Creativity is
promoted and high quality output and decisions are arrived at. This is not easily achieved by an
individual working on his or her own.
Tasks delegated to groups are likely to get completed faster than those assigned to individuals. The large
amount of work is broken down into bits and delegated to the members. The workload is therefore
reduced and tasks are completed in a short time. By completing projects fast, time is saved and can in
turn be used for other income generating activities.
Nevertheless, teamwork promotes efficiency in work. When teams combine the efforts of individuals,
they accomplish more than an individual working alone. The workload is reduced and shared among the
individuals. Everyone is assigned duties depending on one’s area of specialty. This therefore makes it
easy to finish large loads of work with ease reducing strain and fatigue.
It is evident that coordination and cooperation plays a significant role in any activity. Towards achieving
a common goal, healthy interaction among partners, speed, accuracy and efficiency is required.
