formal recommendation report

This project will consist of a formal recommendation report. A recommendation
report evaluates problems and attempts to find a solution based on research and
analysis. The goal is to familiarize you with the techniques of persuasion within the
workplace context so you know how to make helpful arguments. In almost every
workplace, being able to develop solutions and relay them persuasively and
professionally is an important skill.
Parameters
You have two options for developing your own topic:
• A recommendation report addressing an issue at Kutztown University (e.g.,
parking, dining hall options, curriculum development, etc.)
• A recommendation report that advocates using certain apps for a particular
business (e.g., picking a real company and recommending apps that would
help management make decisions, workplace efficiency, etc.)
In addition to reasoning that hinges on solid research and logical arguments, each
report should contain a budget and a visual aspect to the argument (e.g., charts or
graphs in addition to the overall design of the report). Citations should follow APA
or MLA format for citations.
If doing the Kutztown option, keep in mind you could actually survey and interview
people if you are in the area. In other words, you could rely on primary sources. If
doing the app option, you can be creative with how the company should implement
or use these apps—they can figure into the core mission directly, they could affect
workplace efficiency and worker productivity, or they might simply contribute to a
positive workplace environment in some way. Be sure to go beyond generic apps
people probably have on their phone already and focus on adding value by
bringing something unique to the table for the company.

Structure
• Include a problem statement and background section summarizing the
overall situation (identify problems or opportunities, provide historical
context) that you are hoping to address
• Define and state the requirements and criteria needed to resolve this
problem successfully
• Identify and discuss at least three possible solutions to each problem
• Integrate AT LEAST two outside sources when discussing the possibilities or
making your recommendation
