What are the effects of the ISPS code implementation on cargo throughout at the FOM and POB? Following terrorist attacked on the twin towers in the USA and Limburg oil tanker in Yemen, the IMO has defined a supplementary chapter and an appendix named ISPS code to SOLAS X-11, to prevent similar events in maritime transportation. The ISPS code forces the ports, ships, and all organizations, who work in marine industry, to keep their security more tightly by putting in place anti tourism measures. This situation affects or involved parties in good and bad ways. Good impacts like increasing in security level, efficiency, effectiveness, and competitiveness; and bad effects like increasing in annual costs, administration works and manning. This is a situation that does not exclude Liberia. The Code came into effect July 2004,
Signed and domesticated into Law by Liberia in 2005. The ISPS Code implementation has greatly assisted in Securing movement of Cargos in and out of the two Ports.
What are the effects of the ISPS code implementation on the ship traffic flow at the FOM and POB? The implementation of ISPS Code has also cause an increase in the Ship traffic at the two Ports, there by leading to Economic viability of the National Port Authority.
What are the effects of the ISPS code implementation on the Occupancy rate of vessels at the FOM and the POB? The implementation of the Code has no significant occupancy rate of the Vessel while at birth.
What are the effects of the ISPS code implementation on the vessel’s turnaround time in the FOM and POB? The implementation of the Code ensures the safety of the Ship, its Crew and Cargos. The Port Managements require straight adhering to Policies and regulation for the fast turnaround time of the Vessel, in keeping with this guideline, there is no effect of the implementation of the Code to the time of turnaround of the Vessel.

Insufficient funding and luck of full adherence by some Port user and Government Officers.

The Seaborne Security Protocol is highly effective. Liberia practiced the interagency appreciate when dealing with Security situation in Liberia including the Ports.
