Financial Risks

Instructions:
This is a group project assignment and my part of that assignment is…Would you mind working on the financial risks portion of the project. Me and you can work together on the root cause analysis, events, and financials portion.

You are the leadership team of a hospital that does not have a strong culture. The team members do not have a lot of structure, and they are not confident to speak up when they see something wrong. There is a separation between the physicians and the team members, and they do not always work well together.

The first part of the assignment (1-2 pages) is for you document the issues that could be associated with an organization like this. Remember to think about the Joint Commission, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, FMEA, root cause analysis, adverse events, sentinel events, and financial risk. Use your textbook and other assigned readings as appropriate for references. Next you will submit a 2-3 page Risk Management Plan. In this, I want you to research techniques used in the industry (TeamStepps is an example). Detail out all of the things that need to be implemented, who is involved, how does it roll out. HINT: A poor culture leads to safety issues, medical mistakes, etc.

Now that you have detailed the portions of the plan, include 1-2 pages for each of the following roles (CEO, Risk Manager, Chief of Staff-physician lead). In these sections, you are going to describe the roles of each individual in implementing this plan. What are their specific challenges, and how might they overcome that. Think about culture, finance, and collaboration.

The last piece will be a 1page conclusion in which you will tell how you plan, now fully implemented, has improved the issues that you initially documented.

The Group Process:
Ideally, you will work in groups of four on this project. The groups will be auto-assigned at random. Depending on the number of students in the class, some groups may have fewer members (3-4 students). Group members will work collaboratively on this assignment throughout the course. One final project will be submitted by a group member during Module 7. Each group member will also evaluate each member’s contribution to the project.

Each team must create and submit one APA-formatted document that includes:

APA-formatted title page – All team members must be listed vertically in alphabetical order (by last name). The document must have a running head and all pages must be numbered. Please submit document in Times New Roman or Arial font, size 12, following guidelines for HSA writing. Use Level 1 heading for each section of the paper.
