Current Business Finance News (Wall Street Journal): On FIVE weeks student should bring in one Wall Street Journal Article (copy must be provided of either on-line or print journal article.) Students should be prepared to discuss their article if called on. The article must come from the newspaper (print or on-line) during the week between class meetings. Students should turn in a typed write-up concerning this article. This WSJ case write-up has a specific format requirement and should be numbered as below. The write up should:
1.identify 5 facts presented in the article
2.indicate why this article concerns a corporate finance issue
3.summarize the article in a few sentences
4.indicate what impact this news would be expected to have on stock price
5.Connect this article to the THEORY of CORPORATE Finance (Note investments articles, accounting articles, etc. will receive a substantial deduction.) This section is substantial and should increase in complexity as the term proceeds. Always tie the finance issue to how stock price might be maximized.
Sections of the above summary should be numbered.
Focus on corporate finance. Always tie your article to corporate finance theory.
