Background information and main tasks

As a business student you should know how economies suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic and how was the economic environment of countries before and during the pandemic. A proper analysis of a country can be conducted by looking into the main macroeconomics variables before and during pandemic. Your team is required to pick a country and explain the economic environment of the chosen country before and during pandemic using 4 years data of some important macroeconomic variables.
Questions/points to consider as you approach your research.

What was the state of the economy before the pandemic? What was the state of the economy during 2020? Collect time series data on GDP per capita, growth rate of real GDP per capita, inflation rate, unemployment rate, interest rate, bank rates, exchange rate(s), supply of money and any other important macroeconomic data. The following table can be used for this purpose.

What kind of output gaps did the country face during 2020? Was it an inflationary or recessionary gap? How is it important for your analysis?

Include the following sections in your paper. You can add more sections or change sections as appropriate.

Introduction: Explaining what you are going to write about. Write are the clear purpose and scope of your project.

Background and History: What are the important key historic factors? (For example, did the country recently receive independence or become a member of the World Trade Organization? What is the current economylike? Was it going through some sort of economic crisis? Did a war occur during that period? Or any other related important information regarding that specific period of 4 years)

General Definitions: Define each variable. Explain how they are determined. Explain why each variable is an important economic indicator?

Data Table and Visual Representation: Using the data from the table and Excel or any other software, create a diagram for each of thefive variables over a period of 4 years.
This is done to show the variable’s decline or growth.

Explanation behind the values: The most important part of the paper is your explanation. Use your own words. You may wish touse historical information from other resources, but make sure to use proper APA citation.
Carefully explain the reasons behind the growth or decline of each of the variables in the4 years period.
Explain why these numbers are important to the people in that country?
Gather information about the banking system in the chosen country. What is the relationship between their banking system and the values collected in the table?

Conclusion and self-reflection: The conclusion must be a minimum of one paragraph and must include a self-reflection of what you have learned from writing this paper.

References: References must be current and from multiple sources (Minimum of 5 references). Be sure to use APA and reference any quotations or web material that you use in your paper. The various chartered banks and investment dealers also prepare macroeconomic forecasts whichmay be useful as a source of ideas.

Economic data is available in various reputable internet sources including the FRED, Central Bank websites, World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Mundi, etc.

Requirements
Your report should be a maximum of 5 pages, double-spaced with 12-point font, not including cover page and references.

Evaluation
The Group Project will be marked in its entirety out of 100 (15% weightage). The following rubric indicates the elements your professor will weigh to evaluate your work.
