The name of the company I am a intern at this summer is Compass Real Estate. I am a Communications Specialist Intern. I will also attach my previous paper for this course below  for better insight.

I would like you to analyze how ethics apply to your internship. One of the learning outcomes for the internship is ethical decision making in your chosen field.
Find your organization’s posted ethical guidelines and write about them in your paper.
How do these policies apply to what you do in the internship?

This paper should be approximately four pages (double-spaced, not including a title page and references, if your paper includes these—and you should include references to your organization’s ethical guidelines) in length and is due by 11pm on July 5th or no later than one week after you complete your internship hours—whichever comes first–to Canvas (where it will go through TurnItIn).

In my internship at Compass, I have interacted with my supervisor both
professionally and personally. My supervisor, Madhava DeBow, is an
immigrant from Brazil, now married and with a family in the U.S.
During our interactions from the first day I started the internship, I have
learned a lot that I will be applying in my personal and professional life.
I got an opportunity to interview her, and the interview took place at her
office. During the short time of the interview, I was able to know who
she is and what drives her to achieve what she has achieved this far. It is
an excellent opportunity for me as an intern to understand her working
style and what it takes to succeed in one’s career.
Interview Questions and Answers
The first question I asked my supervisor was who she was and her career
path. According to her, she is a Brazilian who migrated to America in
search of greener pastures. When she first arrived some twelve years
ago, she did not know English, which did not settle well with her. He
motivation to be part of the American dream did not die, and she took it
to herself to study and know English. She excelled in this pursuit and
was able to communicate well in English. She undertook her studies and
acquired her degree from George Mason University, moving closer to
realizing her dreams. She landed a job with the Brazilian Embassy in
D.C. and started a family. She was very good at what she did and
realized her high potential in the real estate industry. She had developed
solid social connections and excellent communication skills, which she
discovered during her maternity leave. Instead of returning to the
Embassy after the leave, she took her vision to a higher level and took a
real estate license test, which she passed. From there, she embarked on
her career path with great ambition. Within only two years, she has
become the top home seller in the Northern Virginia area.

I also asked her about her expectations about successful interns/
candidates. According
to my supervisor, a successful intern or candidate has a growth mindset,
one who takes every opportunity to learn so that they can motivate
themselves and those around them to achieve excellent results.
According to her, such a person is always eager and ready to learn new
ideas and technology continuously, as the industry is growing at a high
rate and changing fast. Further, she said that a successful candidate
needs to have significant commercial awareness to be able to market and
ensure that the company earns maximum returns. She also mentioned the
need for a positive attitude, adaptability, and the initiative to learn. She
insisted on the need for professional communication skills, which are
critical in the real estate industry.
I was also eager to know what she wished she had known when she was
in my shoes. With a stern face, she told me that she wished she had
known that being an intern was laying the foundation for her future
career opportunities. She wished she had taken her internship with the
seriousness it deserved and understood that she needed to fit into the
business culture of her organization. She had not known that
individuality in the internship is not something that she should embrace,
which was a usual trend while in school, but she should have known that
the work she did impacted other people, hence the need to be done with
outstanding professionalism. She wished she had established great
connections that she could later turn to after graduation because she had
to struggle to get to where she first landed.
When I asked her what she felt it takes to succeed in internships and
entry-level positions, her answer was straightforward. As she mentioned
earlier, she said that success comes with the desire to learn and being
open to new ideas and opportunities. Madhava said that one should get
into the position without rigidity but with flexibility that can make them
adaptable in any situation. According to her, this can work wonders in
enabling one to

explore new opportunities and take on new challenges, which are bound
to be there in any
career field.
I also asked whether her management/supervision style has changed
over time and the
style she prefers most. According to her, her management style has
evolved with time. Madhava has learned a lot from her bosses from her
past employments, and she has tried to implement it in her management
and perfect it. She said that she has seen the transformational leadership
style working best, as she interacts with people daily and good
relationships and communication skills are critical in the sector.
Reflections
On the first question about who my supervisor was and her career path, I
learned a lot about hard work, zeal, and determination. My supervisor
was not discouraged by the fact that she did not speak English, but she
took it upon herself to learn and attend college to earn a degree. It was
this drive and a clear focus on her goal that landed her a good job, even
after venturing into a real estate agent and becoming a very successful
home seller in her area. I embraced the need for hard work and working
with a goal clear in my mind without wavering when we come across
obstacles. My supervisor would have become comfortable in her
position in the Brazilian Embassy in D.C., but she decided to stretch her
wings and explore new possibilities. This made me see the need for hard
work and great vision.
Based on her opinion about a successful intern/candidate, I learned about
the need to be adaptable, take in new ideas, and continuously embrace
them as technology brings in new changes every day. I planned that once
I get an opportunity to start working, I will be very flexible and move in
with a growth mindset so that I can be able to motivate myself and
others around me. I will continuously build my career by taking short
courses where needed to be competent in the dynamic industry and
achieve the results that I desire to see.

As she explained what she wished she had known as an intern, I was
keen to take note
to avoid the same mistakes she did. She made me take my internship
position with the seriousness it deserved as I understood that if I created
a professional image at the firm, I would have good referrals after
graduation. I decided to take every opportunity and learn as much as I
could and ask for assistance or corrections where necessary. This would
be a great way to show my desire to learn, which would impress my
future employers.
Her opinion about successful and entry positions made me open-minded
in my internship and ready to learn and explore new opportunities that
came my way. I decided to be flexible in every situation and embrace
good communication skills that would enable me to voice my opinions
and relate well with colleagues. This will be an essential skill that I will
use in my entry position.
Finally, she said that her management style has evolved over time
because she has interacted with several bosses and observed their
working styles keenly. This made me more observant and learned from
her leadership style, which is very successful. I learned about the need
for good communication and interpersonal skills and leading by
example. I will utilize this in my future leadership roles.
