Optional Essays Exam II
Essay questions. These questions are worth a maximum of 10 points in total (2.5 pts. each) on the
lecture exam if you answer each of the four essays correctly (partial credit will be granted as
appropriate). You are limited to one (1) paragraph for each essay (and will receive NO POINTS if you
go over), and any sources used must be cited appropriately (Wikipedia is not a viable source, and
anything you did not already know when you arrived in A&P at the start of the semester must be
cited; you will receive NO POINTS if you do not cite your information). Please type your answers
(double-spaced with an attached works cited list) and hand them in the day of the lecture exam.
These essays will not be accepted after you have left the exam room under any circumstances.
While you may discuss these questions with one another, you may not ask the instructor about
them and you must compose your own essays.

3. When examining the skeleton of this individual, you discover that his (he was male, by the way)
right femur is 2 cm shorter than his left. Postulate what could have led to this. What might you
find on his skeleton that would support your theory?
4. As you continue your studies in the Arctic, you find a perfectly preserved female who also lived
approximately 5000 years ago. This person seems to have frozen to death, as you find her
