Education Outreach Paper
identify a vulnerable population in your community, work with a human services organization that helps that population, and create a flyer or brochure to provide health education, health promotion, or risk reduction information specifically targeting that population’s needs. There are 16 clinical hours associated with this project. All time spent on this project is to be documented in the Clinical Activities Journal.
You may wish to work with an elementary, middle, or high school for this project, or identify a new social services site. However, you are welcome to coordinate this project with your existing Service Learning site or your community of interest for your Community Assessment project.
Identify the vulnerable population you are interested in serving.
Select the organization/agency you will work with for this project that serves that population.
Interview key personnel at the agency (Director, Coordinator) as well as clients of the agency to determine a priority health education, health promotion, or risk reduction need.
Conduct a brief literature review on your chosen topic, selecting a minimum of three scholarly sources for information.
Search for royalty-free graphics online that fit your topic.
Design a one-page flyer or double-sided, bi-fold or tri-fold brochure to be distributed at your agency.
Submit your completed flyer/brochure on Blackboard, along with a 2-3 page, double-spaced paper describing your experience at the site, literature review, and process for creating the flyer/brochure. Include all references in APA format.
Once approved by your Instructor, provide a digital copy to your agency for their distribution.
