Write an essay in which you reflect on your language lessons. Discuss what you
have learned from your analysis of the lesson as well as from the group
discussions that followed them. Integrate ideas about task-based learning and
teaching from the literature in ways that connect closely with the language
lessons.
Very important information about my lessons:
I have 4 lessons Each lesson 5-6 minutes
My class group of 3 students (online class)
My first lesson was about online shopping in English then I changed my
mind to teach beginner level my language (Arabic) in lesson 2,3,4,
My focus on teaching to teach them some words and sentence in Arabic
that they use in daily life
You can use ( I ) personal as example 1
You can use the same reference and the same evidence or ideas as
example 1 but you have paraphrase
You can use the same conclusion as example 1 in Word file but you have
paraphrase it
The difference between my lessons and example 1 , the example 1 in Word
file was one video and one topic.
You can use the same ideas or reference in Example 1 but you have
matching with my lessons with paraphrase well .
The main goal of lessons are not teaching grammar or vocabulary or
language , the main goal is focusing on the meaning in real life.
I put it some feedback of my classmates may help you.
this is Critical reflection and analysis essay for the 4 lessons.the
word limit 1500words the reference style is APA6 and you can
use 6 sources including the book I uploaded " Doing Task-based
teaching".
The feedback my classmates lesson 1 :
This is student 1 feedback:
"This lesson was based on a real-life situation, and the lesson was more focussed on the
meaning. Pictures that you had used as visual aid were quite helpful in grasping some vocabulary
that the learners need to engage in the language tasks. The activity on “giving opinion” was very
interesting, as such activities can pave the way towards developing discussions among students,
and you can keep the students more engaged in the target language. There was a clear learning
outcome of the lesson (familiarize the learners with the vocabulary related to the situation of
online shopping, and laying a platform for them to generate a discussion based on the situation).
As I think it would have been really great if you could throw a bit of light on the form, while
focussing on the meaning I think it would have been really great if you could throw a
bit of light on the form while focussing on the meanin."
My response ///Important note for me, and I will work hard to improve this point.
Since I was the first time to explain online as well as my colleagues, this was a new
challenge for us.
This is student2 feedback:
-The lesson was very interesting and provide an opportunity for students to make discussion.
– You provided different activities during the lesson which contributed to engage and attract
towards students in the lesson.
– You provided several pictures about the different ways of shooping.
This is student3 feedback:
The lesson was very interactive and was well planned by keeping in mind the need to
engage the students in the task.
It started with the pictures of some carry bags which raised the interest of the learners and
they enjoyed the lesson because it involved them in the teaching throughout.
The questions that were asked about the online shopping and shopping at the store gave
me the chance to put my likings ahead without any judgement, which was the best part
for me.
By looking at the visuals, the ideas that starting hitting my mind, indicates teacher’s intention to
focus on meaning ahead of form.
My view lessons 2,3:
Lesson 2 /In this lesson, it was a good challenge for me in teaching Arabic. I tried to apply all the
instructions and rules in focusing on the meaning and the students were given in the lesson a little post-
beginner level and the third lesson will be the extension of the second lesson with raising the level and
what helped me is the interaction of students and this increased my confidence more and more and
every lesson I feel much better reaching the desired goal of teaching.
Lesson 3/ In the beginning, I did put it two pictures, and I asked my students one question what do you
see in this picture? Then I did let them think about the topic. After I told them the topic, I started with
them by the easy conversation that maybe they use them in daily life by Arabic after giving them the
lesson's instruction, no one asked me any question maybe it was clear to them and easy. During the
lesson, I tried to let them make the Arabic conversation by focusing on teaching on the meaning. In the
next lesson, I will teach my students to use this conversation and apply all lessons as in real life. Then I
will give them a relevant lesson to cover all lessons.
The feedback my classmates lesson 2 ,3:
Student 1 The lesson was very interactive and was well planned by keeping in mind the
need to engage the students in the task.
It started with the pictures of people waving each other in Arabic language which raised
my interest and I enjoyed it because it was engaging throughout the teaching.
The questions that were asked about how to greet someone or say goodbye in Arabic was
really entertaining.
By looking at the visuals, the ideas that start appearing in my mind, indicates teacher’s
intention to focus on meaning ahead of form.
(student 2)
The lesson was based on areal-life situation ,and the lesson was more
focussed on the meaning. pictures that you had used as visual aid were quite
and helpful in grasping somevocabulary that the learners need to engage in
the language tasks. Thu way you attempted to create some interaction
between the learners was quite interesting and the activities and the
homework you had given we really helpful
(student3)
You provided an excellent way to introduce greetings in the Arabic language, which
based on engaging students to interact with the lesson. Your picture was very helpful in
describing greeting. Moreover, you were very confident to teach your lesson.
lesson 3 student 1 "The lesson was very interesting and the way in which that you had attempted
to incorporate conversation into language teaching was interesting. Basically this lesson was a
continuation of the previous lesson and you had incorporated some words that we learnt in the
previous lesson. This was a very useful strategy as the students can revise the previously learnt
lessons in this manner".
