Unit 2

Lesson 6 Christina Sotelo

Europe was a very fertile environment for the rise of fascism in the early part of the 20th century because people felt that their society was weak and was in need of a stronger leader. Germany was a very fertile place for fascism to rise after the war because of the popular based antisocialist movements of national revival. After the lose in 1918 Germans were left trembled and their self-confidence and pride low.

Lesson 7 Ramon Lowery

Moved women out of the ‘make babies,’ household role to take over the formerly MALE dominated positions in both Corporate and Manufacturing america. When the war was over, they were canned as the men returned, but the demonstration was obvious, in the ease with which they took on this role, and made it very plain that females were as good as males in any job function.

Lesson8 Christina Sotelo

The Italian Coup was very unique in the history of the European Theater in World War II. The rise of fascism made citizens fearful and compliant, so a coup was very out of the ordinary. It was very unheard of for someone in power to be overthrown. What made it even more unique was the way it happened. Mussolini attempted to escape on is own, which went against his powerful persona. Because of his narcissistic personality, everyone new his face and he was caught. The partisans were then left to do whatever they pleased with him.

Why did the Italian people turn against benito and hitler?

Lesson 9 Gabriel Hernandez Molina

The Allied Forces were able to fight and end the war because they were combined forces of nations which made them stronger and powerful. They fought the German army and it was becoming weaker because of them. Though the Allied powers had help with supplies needed Germany had built up a strong army. They also had good strategies and tactics, they cooperated well with each other an planned their attacks well. Even if some of the generals didn’t see eye to eye, they still worked it out together to get the best results.

Lesson 10 Gabriel Hernandez Molina

The release of two atomic bombs on japan in august 1945 helped end world war II but introduced the cold war. A conflict between the united states and the Soviet Union dragged nearly half a century. In the United States, the bombs activity widely praised by a public tired of war and high casualties. America gave a huge sigh of relief that the blasts ended the need to shift hundreds of thousands of troops who had survived Europe to fight yet another bloody war on Japanese land.

Unit 3 Lesson 11 Sierra LaSalle

The early part of the Cold War impacted American culture by making everyone paranoid and hateful. It caused people to hate communists and fear that anyone around them could be communists. People would accuse anyone of being a communist and people took it seriously because they were all paranoid and shared hatred for communists. The Red Fear caused people to hunt for communists hiding in America and this just made everyone more paranoid.

Lesson 12 Esperanza Estrada

The war brought about important changes in U.S. Cold War strategy. Soon after the outbreak of hostilities, in June 1950, Truman approved the National Security Council report known as NSC 68, which called for drastic increases in U.S. conventional and nuclear strength and in foreign aid programs. National security expenditures remained high even after the war, never falling below 50 percent of federal spending during the 1950s. The Korean War also persuaded Truman to station U.S. forces in Europe permanently as part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s collective defense efforts and to seek the admission of West Germany to the alliance. This limited war, in short, had lasting effects on the ways that the United States fought the Cold War.

Lesson 13 Esperanza Estrada

The cold war created a lot of pressure on the U.S to stop the civil rights movement in order to maintain its reputation as a super power and show that it was more powerful than the Soviet Union. The Cold War helped the civil rights movement to bloom and become greater as the U.S had a lot of international pressure to stop the movement, the U.S had to face criticism for not providing equal rights for all its citizens and many civil rights activists became victims of McCarthyism which was wide spread during that time.

Lesson 14

Esperanza Estrada

John F. Kennedy is often touted as a champion of space exploration and for good reason. He challenged the United States to put the first man on the Moon. His motives were probably political, not visionary. The Cuban Missile Crisis was a momentous event in modern history: for thirteen days in October 1962, the United States and the Soviet Union stood poised on the brink of nuclear war. The removal of the missiles was probably President John F. Kennedy’s most significant foreign policy success. In his campaign for president, Kennedy promised executive, moral, and legislative leadership to combat racial discrimination.

Lesson 15 Sierra LaSalle

President Johnson is seen as more of an advocate of civil rights than President Kennedy mostly because he accomplished passing many more civil rights than Kennedy did, since that is what he put the most effort into and spent the most time on. Also, Kennedy didn’t have as much time to make as much of an impact on the advancement of civil rights as Johnson did because of his assassination that cut his life short. Johnson was the one who passed the Civil Rights Act and the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which is another reason he is more well known for being an advocate of civil rights than Kennedy, but to be fair, I think that if Kennedy had lived longer, he would have been the one to do this.

Unit4 Leson 16 Tyla Begay

The reasons why the Vietnam War was different from the other wars that the United States faced was because this was a war where they didn’t fight to take territory, but to assist the South Vietnam to take over North Vietnam, to make them a Democratic country. Another reason why this war was different was because U.S. troops ignored the fundamental rule, which is having enough military power to occupy and take over a country. Instead of using the fundamental rule, their tactic was to go in to kill the enemy. Unfortunately, North Vietnam was ready to battle and did not care how long it took for them to conquer South Vietnam. North Vietnam used their fundamental rule to outlast the U.S. and South Vietnam.

Lesson 17 Tyla Begay

American politics played a significant role in the Vietnam War. This was when Daniel Ellsberg released the Pentagon Papers about the U.S. political and the military involvement. The information on the papers made people furious. The reason why its considered significant is because it helped cause the war to end. Mostly all the Politicians that were involved in this had to hide the truth of the war from the American public. When it came out to the public, this caused Americans to protest wanting their troops to return home.

Lesson18 Sierra LaSall

Nixon’s presidency continues to shape and influence American politics and culture in good and bad ways. He improved communication between China and Russia, therefore making more peace between all of them, and this impacted future events in positive ways. Unfortunately though, he did cause citizens to have more distrust in the American government when his lies became known after the release of the Pentagon Papers and the Watergate scandal.

Lesson 19 Sierra LaSalle

The Watergate Scandal impacted American politics, government, and culture mostly because it led to Americans to become critical, cautious, and not as easily trusting of political figures. The fact that Nixon was involved in this scandal is what really caused their distrust of him, future presidents, and other political figures to grow. The scandal also caused the clean-up process of American Politics to begin, since obviously there were some flaws in it.

Lesson 20 Sierra LaSalle

The developments during the Cold War during the Ford administration were significant for many reasons. One was that he was able to improve relations with communist China and with the Soviet Union. This helped to lessen tension in times when this was very unlikely because tension between the U.S. and the Soviet Union was very high. So he helped to improve relations between the East and the West and he also improved on policies regarding human rights. These were all significant developments that happened under his administration.

Unit 5 Lesson21 Sierra LaSalle

The Carter administration domestically impacted the United States significantly because after the lies and scandals of Nixon’s presidency, President Carter made transparency of the government a very important aspect of his presidency. Many people still had distrust in the government because of Nixon, but President Carter began to change some people’s mindsets as they gradually began gaining more trust in the government. Some people continued to distrust the government though because of all of the rumors and conspiracies that still went around, but he definitely made significant improvements when it came to transparency of the government.

Lesson 22 Sierra LaSalle

President Reagan influenced the later years of the Cold War in many ways. One was by making it a priority to work on containing communism and to work on other foreign policies. He was also strong-minded and didn’t compromise when it came to laws and foreign policies. He also funded and helped support war efforts for people fighting against communism, like for example in Afghanistan, he gave money to help support the people there fighting against the communist side.

Lesson 23 Lily Noel

The end of the Cold War is tied to the American domestic economy because of the heavy focus on Capitalism. Americans wanted to be as far away from Communism as they possible could be. The focus had also been put on an “un-winnable” war for so long that a lot of money that could have been put towards domestic improvement was wasted. This left America in a somewhat undesirable position economically.

Lesson24 Savanna Czyz

Bush inherited Reagan’s campaign strategist Lee Atwater, who ensured Bush the Republican nomination by aggressively attacking his opponents in the primaries. During the election, Bush had gone out of the range for the budget policy that Reagan had established and many people viewed this as a betrayal.

Lesson 25 Seth Thornhill

The foreign policy of the Bill Clinton administration was the foreign policy of the United States from 1993 to 2001 under the Administration of President Bill Clinton. Clinton’s main foreign policy advisors were Secretaries of State Warren M. Christopher and Madeleine Albright and National Security Advisors Anthony Lake and Sandy Berger. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_policy_of_the_Bill_Clinton_administration
