DOB:  14/2 /  2007     Year:  Y10                   House:

Background:

Ademijuwon prefers to as Ade. Ade previously attended St Mary’s Primary School where he thoroughly enjoyed his time in Primary School. Ade in the future wishes to become a Policeman. Ade enjoys playing Star Wars and Enjargo. He also likes to play with his batman toys. At school, he likes Golden Time and not getting Restarts (Isolation). Ade has a diagnosis of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD) and Sensory Modulation Disorder. He is currently taking medication for his ADHD. Ade also suffers from asthma and eczema.

Support Needs/SEND:

Cognition and Learning Needs

: Ade appears to be performing at a below average ability range when compared with his peers, at a level indicating mild learning difficulties (MLD).He presents with an uneven cognitive profile and is performing at a below average in his non- verbal reasoning and verbal abilities. He is performing at an average level for verbal abilities. His low nonverbal scores point to difficulties with problem solving that do not involve written or spoken language. This is also an indication of difficulties organising his time and space and social interactions.

Social Emotional and Mental Health Needs

On an individual basis, Ade presents as a friendly and co-operative pupil who finds it difficult to have conventional conversation, showing a lack of ‘to’ and ‘fro’ in social dialogue. He does not show an eagerness to initiate or maintain conversations and needs to be encouraged.

Although Ade has a small friendship group in school, there are significant concerns that he is socially vulnerable. He is frequently anxious and is often unco-operative towards staff. He exhibits awareness of his learning difficulty and his behaviour can be challenging. Ade is also sensitive to criticism and can become anxious when things go wrong.

Communication and Interaction Needs

Ade has difficulties with his attention and listening which impacts on his language development. Ade takes times to independently begin and complete tasks when given. These difficulties are consistent with his diagnosis of ADHD, and are likely to remain an area of concern. Ade often mumbles which affects the clarity of his speech. This impact on his intelligibility and the listener’s ability to understand what he is saying in conversation. He has a tendency of repeating words in a sentence as a strategy of allowing himself extra time to process what he is saying. This difficulty in planning is associated with his ADHD.

Sensory and Physical Needs: Ade’s sensory profile reflects his sensory seeking behaviour, inattention, distractibility and impulsivity. He also presents with low registration and lack of response to others. His sensory profile in in line with Sensory Modulation Disorder.
