Develop a digit TEACHING LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS RESOURCE BINDER

1. Locate resources that will help the special education teacher promote the learning and growth of all students in the areas of language and communication.  Develop a folder titled  “TEACHING LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS RESOURCE BINDER”.  Within this folder develop folders for each of the areas listed in #2 below.  You will upload different files for each of the areas listed in #2.  Make sure to include at least 3 – 5 files for each area. (You will need to save the files as a PDF or Word document.)

Organized into folders within the Major Folder titled TEACHING LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS RESOURCE BINDER.  The files need to reflect each of the areas identified in the binder. (5 points)

Types of Language Assessments

Formal – (List 2 formal types of assessments on a Word document titled “Formal Assessment” with a web link to these types of assessments.)

Informal – Provide examples of 2 informal or criterion/diagnostic assessments for each level.  These should be copied as PDF or Word Documents.

Age Levels:

File Folder – Birth to age 5  (Formal and Informal assessments)

File Folder – Elementary School (1^st – 4^th) (Formal and Informal assessments)

File Folder – Middle School (5^th – 6^th) (Formal and Informal assessments)

File Folder -Junior High (7^th – 8^th) (Formal and Informal assessments)

File Folder -Secondary School (9^th – 12^th) (Formal and Informal assessments)

Language and Communication Strategies

Identify 1 expressive and 1 receptive language activity.  Select 1 additional area such as morphology, semantics, phonology, semantics and pragmatics and provide one strategy for teaching this area.  Select a different area for each grade level.)  When you get to 1^st grade – 12^th grade) select either a reading/literacy or spelling and writing strategy for those levels.
