Designing Intelligent Agents Topic
For my topic, I came up with creating a game that is set in a forest. The
different agents would be animals (carnivores and herbivores) and hunters. I
can implement a few more agents if need be, like including omnivores, critters,
humans that are not hunters, etc.
The idea is that you primarily have the herbivores looking for food to eat, and
will evaluate the environment if it is safe to forage for food, as well as if there
is any food present in the environment. There will be obstacles in the way
(e.g. trees, bushes, etc.) that will obscure the vision of the agent and affect
how the agent sees the environment (e.g. a clever carnivore could be behind
a tree, waiting for prey).
If a herbivore does see a carnivore in it’s sights, it will run away, and
depending on the traits of each animal, a carnivore may try to chase it down.
The biggest threat to any of the two agents would be hunters, who will have a
limited number of bullets. When running out of bullets, I have an idea for
making the human either panic and run away, giving a sign to carnivores that
the hunter is helpless, or it can remain in a collected manner and “pretend”
that it is still a threat, avoiding being preyed on by carnivores.
A large carnivore may try to pick a fight with a hunter regardless, or it may
hide or run, whereas a herbivore will run regardless.
A carnivore’s task would be to find food for it to eat, which would either be
smaller carnivores or herbivores. A carnivore will have two options; look for
herbivores or carnivores directly and sneak up to them, or look around in the
environment and see if there is any food available for a herbivore, meaning it
can hide and wait.
I also have an idea to give each animal needs that will define it’s behaviour as
well, e.g. if low on hunger or energy, it will get desperate or sloppy,
respectively.I hope this topic and idea suits what you are looking for, and if you have any
