Assignment Overview:
The purpose of completing this assignment is:
1. To gain a realistic understanding of a professional role of interest
a. Its current and surrounding industry landscape
b. The attributes and or skills typically needed to be employable in this industry
2. Practice and refine your written communication skills
Task:
Based on all of the research you have conducted (and on the sources below), document your research
outcomes in a report. You will be required to conduct a thorough analysis of the sources you have
gathered. Furthermore, your report must include the APA style of citation and referencing, with a list of
references at the end.
Structure:
Structure your report into these four distinct sections. Under each section, your paragraphs should
address the following questions
1. Introduction (a brief introduction to the other three sections)
a. What have some experts/sources said about this role? – is it hot? A dying profession?
b. Briefly describe how this role constructively contributes to society
c. And briefly mention the ease/difficulty of the process of entering this role.
2. The role
a. What do the role’s typical duties and responsibilities include?
b. What kind of qualifications/accreditations would one need for this role?
c. Who are the typical and/or common employers (firms)?
3. The industry and profession
a. What makes the role relevant in the contemporary industry landscape?
b. How has the role evolved recently, and in which direction is it predicted to further evolve in
the future? – elaborate on those opportunities for growth in the industry
c. What would a common career progression for the role be? – who much room is there for
growth in your career?
4. Required skills and attributes
a. What kind of skills and/or attributes would you typically need in order to be employable
and successful in the role (including the required IT-specific skills, and also general or
non-technical skills if relevant), and why?
i. How could the skills you learn from this role help you in the next stages of your
career and/or your life?
