You and your peers’ feedback should be constructive, demonstrate an understanding of course concepts, and help you and your peers improve each other’s work. Be sure to provide meaningful feedback to your peers during critiques. Be honest, but also be sensitive. It is especially important in an online environment, which is devoid of body language and emotional context, to phrase your feedback carefully. Simple courtesies can make a big difference. Peer critiques should be constructive and professional – imagine as if you are all in a room collaborating and sharing ideas.

Ideally, your peer critiques will be welcomed opportunities during which you and your peers:

Self-evaluate and peer-evaluate with a focus on creativity and the concepts (or skills) developed during the course.
Provide and receive constructive feedback on strengths, opportunities for improvement, successes, and missed opportunities. It is just as important to identify strengths during a critique as it is to highlight opportunities for improvement.
Clarify assignment objectives, demonstrate fulfillment of course objectives, and solidify your understanding of the objectives.
Practice industry-relevant, professional skills, such as enhancing the paper, listening, critical thinking, and pitching ideas.
Develop critical awareness by participating in discussions and considering different ideas and approaches.
Learn from each other by sharing different perspectives.
To help you provide a quality critique, consider the following guidelines, which are based on suggestions originally written by Irizarry and Connor:

The goal of a critique is to help improve the work, not to disparage your peer or focus solely on finding fault.
The language focuses on improving the project and steers clear of personal topics. Although all work is personal, critiques should always address the project and not the person who creates it.
Critiques are not mandates or ultimatums. They are suggestions that kindle a discussion among the group.
One of the best things you can do when giving or receiving a critique is to listen. Consider the comments of your peers and suppress the urge to be defensive or to justify your choices.
Remember, there is no perfect answer or perfect project. All work can and should be improved through the critique process. Egos are obstacles in a peer critique.
Post a 2- or 3-paragraph response to each of your peers by responding to the threads in the discussion area. Be sure to follow the peer critique guidelines.

FYI: Please see the attached of an example of a board discussion bellow. I’m trying to send Traci’s video, but I don’t know whats wrong, it keeps showing an error, so my opinion, she did a great job on her presentation. I appreciate the depth and information provided throughout her presentation. I liked the organization of her slides and also the precise information. I just don’t know how to put all together and provide her a critique comments to her presentation. That’s where I need help.
