Barriers, Perceived or Real, to Farmers Complying with Gap Standards for Vegetable Production in Vietnam/ AN

Research Question no.3 is not necessary: you can drop it. The first two are enough.

Data Type
Some data is already collected which I will be sending you. You need to collect additional secondary data on first 2 questions of research. some of the instructions are given about which type of data you need to collect and focus on for first 2 research questions.
“What form is the data in and what techniques will you use to analyse it?”
It should be half quantitative and half qualitative.

It must be so given your topic and the information you have been given. You have been given a (limited) set of quantitative survey data = a starting point to assess the current situation with a sample of vegetable growers in the north of Vietnam (the south is quite different, both in its cropping systems and in its social ways).
You must add to this data set more reading and get a clear idea about:

1) How Vietnam’s government has tried to implement GAP to get it adopted by farmers (but without much success) = mostly qualitative information
Try to find answer of “Has the Vietnam government forced farmers to adopt GAP?”
2) How have other authors analysed the barriers to adoption of GAP practices in other countries (Note: they may be called differently from “GAP”):
a. what questions did they ask?
b. what qualitative information and what quantitative data did they use?
c. what were the variables chosen (= needed and used for analysing the problem)?
d. how were the variables analysed (= with what methods)?

Try to focus on focus on (1) government policies that tried to implement them, and (2) factors interpreted as “barriers to adoption.”

When searching for barriers to GAP-type adoption in other countries, you can use search words like “barriers to adoption of”…
– improved agricultural practices or management
– better agricultural practices
– more sustainable agriculture, etc.
