Any topic just has to be informative

For this Informative Speech, you should pick a topic that you can inform the audience about. It should NOT be persuasive. You might brainstorm and pick your favorite vacation spot, a musical artist you really like, you may choose to talk about your dream house, maybe you collect things and you want to inform us about that. You could pick a person, a place, something you do, etc. The options are endless. Once you have a topic in mind, you will construct an outline (not the full speech) to be turned in for the speech. The outline should follow the format below. Use complete sentences for Roman Numerals, and use correct symbols and indentation. If you want to type a speech word-for-word for you to practice from that is fine. But you only turn in the outline AND you are limited to 1 4×6 notecard when you deliver the speech.

Outline Format:

TOPIC–

I. (Attention Getting Device) Here you indicate what you will do to get the audience’s attention.

II. (Thesis Statement) This should be a single, complete, declarative statement, indicating what the entire speech will be about. Think of it as a topic sentence. It should not be in the 1st person.

III. (Preview Statement) This should be a lead-in to each of the Main Points you will discuss. For example, “In my speech today I will discuss……”

Requirements:

1.You may use 1 4×6 notecard when you deliver your speech.

2.The speech should be in the range of 4-6 minutes.

3.If you use research and outside sources (something other than common knowledge you have), you need to document it on a works cited page AND orally cite the source(s) in the speech itself. You can use any format for citing sources.

4.You need to email through the course the above outline form when you deliver your speech and it needs to be typed.
